i think he would make an awesome closer, but they gonna use him as a starter.

he can be awesome in starter position as well but there is a good chance he will get injuired. he uses a lot of strain, especially in fastball pitches... this is ideal for closers because they pitch only 1 inning.

so if they use him as a starter i think he will have a good start, then get injured or get tired after half a season or so.

if he starts really hot in the first 7 to 10 games, then i would trade him for someone big.

Good advice right there. I still haven't completely figured out why they moved him from closer since he'd be a stud for the next 10 years there... but he's had success as a starter so I can see why they won't move him back yet.

watched him pitch today.. and he did throw fairly well.. i missed the first inning.. he had some nice stuff.. don't let the score throw you off

Because closers are far less valuable (even the great ones) than even good number three starters.

Scherzer has not lost in eight starts this season. His season-opening winning streak is the longest by a Tigers pitcher since Jeremy Bonderman(notes) won eight straight in 2007.
